Porirua Assembly on Climate 2025

In 2025, our Te Hiko Practice Lead Makerita Makapelu joined the facilitation team for the worlds first Te Tiriti led citizens assembly. The topic was Climate Change in Porirua.

This process brought together a representative group of Porirua residents, who came together to learn about climate change in their region, consider various perspectives and factors, and then made decisions together about it. This is part of the new wave of deliberative democracy tools that will help us to overcome hard to solve issues.
